OUR VISION AND MISSION

Vision and Mission
Give to learn, learn to give.

Vision
Globally, and mostly in Nigeria nearly 1 out of every 5 children of primary-school age are not in school, 40% of secondary-age children don't attend school, and even more do not have the opportunity to pursue higher education. Poverty is a principal cause. Often times, families have trouble affording school fees and supplies, or may simply need their children to contribute to household income. In addition, the poor quality of local schools may make the benefit of education appear elusive.

At SFCO, our vision is to make quality education accessible for all children. We believe that education is the single most important and sustainable resource for individual empowerment, community advancement, and poverty alleviation. Through our network of grassroots partnerships, we strive to connect our network of donors with innovative, high-impact projects and scholarships that can transform local communities one at a time.

Mission
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, SFCO is an online giving marketplace that aggregates small dollar donations and small volunteer hours into a powerful force for change. Through our network of grassroots partnerships, we link our donors with high-impact education such as teacher training, library construction, textbook purchases, student sponsorship, among other activities. In particular, we emphasize transparency and impact monitoring - through our web interface, our donors can receive regular updates, send letters to our students, blog about their experiences, connect with other donors, and learn about education policy globally. Our philosophy is "Give to Learn, Learn to Give" - every person has a responsibility to the world and has something powerful to offer. In particular we aspire to:

Create an online community for giving - to connect our donors to high-impact pre-screened investments in education
Identify transformational grassroots education organizations to bring into our network and facilitate information-sharing of best practices
Raise funding and support for our partnership network through online and offline channels
Spread awareness and generate research about effective education initiatives globally
Promote cross-cultural relationships
through blogging, messaging, and social media
Crowd source impact to make the largest impact at the lowest cost through our volunteer base

PARTNER WITH US

BECOME A SAMARITAN FAMILY PARTNER
Join our network of grassroots organizations

The benefits of becoming a SFCO, partner are multifold. As a partner of SFCO, you gain access to a new source of funding for your operations, a larger network to spread awareness about your cause, and a resource for social impact monitoring and volunteer recruitment. Given our network of donors and our presence on social media, your organization can benefit from our platform through numerous marketing and fundraising activities. Unlike listings on other crowd funding websites, we provide support to our partners on a highly personalized level - to work together to achieve your objectives. If you have any questions about the partnerships process, please contact helpsamaritanfamilycharity@gmail.com for further details.
What are the requirements of becoming a SFCO, partner?Given our focus on transparency and maximizing impact per money spent, we require our potential partners to meet the following standards:

01-(c)3 status (or equivalent) or official institutions of education (i.e. local schools or universities) - Non-profit NGOs abroad should have official non-profit status as recognized by local law. Official institutions of education should have documentation proving legitimacy of operations.
3+ years of field experience - we partner with organizations that have a proven track record, innovative model for impact, and deep relationships and commitments to their local community. Our partners are continually present in the communities they serve and are intimately familiar with the families and students they help.

Innovative impact model and targeting the right demographic - we look for partners that have a focused methodology for assessing impact. Potential partners should critically assess that that they are reaching truly needy students, rather than students who are more convenient or easier to serve.

Ability to provide regular updates - given our focus on transparency, we require our partners to provide regular updates about the progress of projects and scholarships that we list on SFCO, Progress updates often come in the form of videos, staff descriptions, photos, letters from students, academic transcripts, or any other medium. As we post these updates on our website and social media channels, our partners benefit from increased donor interest and potential further funding!
What are the benefits of becoming a SFCO partner? We mainly provide our partners with four main benefits: (1) online funding, (2) offline funding through our chapters, (3) awareness building and marketing through our donor network and social media channels, (4) assistance with volunteer recruitment and other special initiatives. With our highly personal relationships with partners, we're here to support you in the way that you want. What's different about becoming a partner of SFCO versus listing on other crowd funding websites?Unlike other crowd funding websites, we don't see ourselves as simply just another online listing for fundraising. Rather, we have truly personal relationships with our partners and continually come up with creative campaigns and fundraisers to help support their activities. In addition to our online fundraising, our partners rely on us to help them with impact evaluation studies, volunteer recruitment, joint fundraising and marketing campaigns, and many other initiatives - whatever their priorities may be. As a few examples, we've held fundraiser events for specific partners in excess of >$20,000 in one night, wrote blog articles, applied for grants on behalf of our partners, launched a product line in which 100% of the profits went to a specific partner, sent graduate school teams to conduct impact evaluation surveys, and helped profile partners in our blog and newsletter postings that generate tens of thousands of views and direct more traffic to our partner's site.
Furthermore, 100% of the funding that we raise go to our partners - no fee from SFCO, in any transaction or transfer. We do this because as volunteers, we're passionate about making a difference
Once I complete my application, what is the process?Once you submit your application, we will review all documents and schedule an interview with our team. After the initial interview, we may ask for additional follow-up discussions and/or further documentation or references

GIVING TO SAMARITAN FAMILY CHARITY ORGANIZATION

Give to SFCO

Help us grow our organization.

A contribution to Samaritan family charity organization is different from a payment to wallet because it funds our internal growth initiatives and gives us discretion over the use of funding. Since we are 100% volunteer-run and we do not use any online donations to cover our own costs, we depend on our supporters to help us defray some of our own internal expenses for growth.
We are proud that we have raised some money to help students and schools around the world on an overhead budget of less than $500 per year, mainly for web hosting. A contribution direct to SFCO, helps us build an important reserve fund to support our partners and gives us much more flexibility in leveraging the money to make a difference. Just as a few examples of how we have used direct contributions to SFCO, in the past:
Web hosting and costs to support our photo and video galleries contingency support for our partners Discretionary use of funds to help our high priority and/or time sensitive projects and scholarships working capital for events and campaigns Working capital for our chapters for fundraising and awareness building seed capital for our SFCO store and other special initiatives prize money for SFCO-wide contests designed to raise awareness matching funding for SFCO-wide campaigns Subscription services to charity grant making databases
By giving us discretion over the use of funds, your sponsorship dollars help us grow organically and extend our overall reach. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please e-mail us at helpsamaritanfamilycharity@gmail.com

Other Forms of Sponsorship

Many of our partners depend on in-kind donations to support their activities. We've helped collect library books, school supplies, clothing, used computers and monitors, among other important educational tools.
Furthermore, as a Google Grant award winner, we know the power of in-kind donations of marketing support, consulting services, advertising, public relations, graphic design, SEO, among other activities. We have been fortunate in the past to work with a myriad of terrific organizations such as Gigapixel Creative, AppNexus, Huddle, TechSoup, among others that have dedicated their services, talents, and products to help Givology grow.
If you would like to make an in-kind donation, please contact us at helpsamaritanfamilycharity@gmail.com

PARTNERS

Partnerships with non-governmental organizations help deliver services, enrich democratic processes, and meet constituent needs in the areas where NGOS works.```

Among the types of NGOs that the Agency partners with are:

Cooperative Organizations

USAID supports NGOs in their efforts to build cooperative organizations that collectively contribute to development through the Cooperative Development Program (CDP). We also support NGOs that mobilize volunteers and technical experts such as through the Farmer-to-Farmer Program.

Foundations

USAID partners with private philanthropic foundations to share networks, expertise and innovation in undertaking challenges that no single organization can solve on its own. We work with a range of U.S. and international foundations on innovative programming in areas from entrepreneurship to agriculture, and from education to gender and women’s issues.

Local and Regional Organizations

We work with local organizations in developing countries to strengthen their capacity, build effective and long-term partnerships, and reduce the need for foreign aid over time. NGOs outside the United States may work directly with USAID missions or build their capacity to manage and administer resources and programs through the localworks program. Additionally, we support programs (link is external) that improve the legal, fiscal, and political environment for NGOs to protect and promote civil society and civic participation.

WHAT WE DO

 SFCO transforms.

It transforms families, communities, and countries – so they can thrive and prosper.
Whether by preventing the next global epidemic, responding to a devastating earthquake, or helping a farmer access tools to grow her business.
Donating as much as we can to help those going through a lot of depression, poverty, less privileged ones in every little or big way we can for natures happiness and for our society ,world would be a better place by stretching hands to save many people living in less privileged life.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are critical change agents in promoting economic growth, human rights and social progress. USAID partners with NGOs to deliver assistance across all regions and sectors in which we work and to promote inclusive economic growth, strengthen health and education at the community level, support civil society in democratic reforms and assist countries recovering from disasters.

We seek to mobilize the expertise, capacity and knowledge of NGOs in a wide variety of ways to achieve our development objectives, contribute to host government and national priorities, and advance community development. We work with international and local NGOs and their networks to support in-country programs and strengthen their capacity to achieve their missions.

HELP FIGHT POVERTY

The Samaritan Family Charity goal and development objectives were shaped by the following considerations.

Nigeria is relatively wealthy yet suffers from high levels of poverty.
Nigeria has enjoyed robust economic growth over the past five years however this economic growth has not fostered significant reductions in poverty or income equality.
Regional inequalities are evident across Nigeria. The overall picture of Nigeria reveals a northern region that is much poorer than the rest of the country and under-developed, and a relatively more wealthy, resource-rich south, with higher literacy rates, and better health indicators, yet a higher prevalence of HIV and higher levels of gender-based violence.
Increasing the beneficiaries of economic growth is essential. Resolving bottlenecks to inclusive growth have prevented most Nigerians from benefitting from the country’s robust economic growth. Working with the private sector and the Nigerian government under the Feed the Future and Power Africa initiatives is central to this element of the strategy.
Government provision of social services will contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction. The health and education portfolios will focus on strengthening service delivery, systems oversight, and leadership to encourage adequate resource allocation to meet health needs and save lives and to increase access to basic educational services and the necessary skills to be productive members of society.
Strengthening democratic processes and governance and conflict mitigation will complement all aspects of the strategy. Since the significant policy and budgetary decisions made at the state and local levels of government most directly affect the lives of all citizens, the Mission will strive to strengthen these institutions’ capacity to administer elections, respond to citizen needs, and help mitigate conflict by increasing transparency and accountability of government and by fostering civic engagement.
Humanitarian and transitional activities will continue in the northeast. These activities will be complemented by long-term development activities in northeastern Nigeria as conditions permit.
Activities under this strategy will be focused and selective. The Mission’s interventions, except in certain cases, will not be nationwide. Additionally, the Mission will partner with reform-minded leaders at the state and local levels.
Improved monitoring and evaluation will help improve outcomes. The Mission is committed to the Agency’s focus on monitoring, evaluation, and learning as demonstrated through its collaborating, learning and adapting agenda. This agenda focuses primarily on internal and external capacity building in order to exert a multiplier effect on the Mission’s development investments.
